Embleton Holiday Cottages

Embleton is a small historic village situated just a mile from the stunning Northumberland coast.  Steeped in history, this quaint village, dating back to the 12th century, offers the ideal holiday haven for both families and couples. The village has lots to offer with a great choice of pubs and restaurants all within walking distance from your holiday cottage.

It is perhaps most well-known for its award-winning wide sandy beach which stretches for miles and offers magnificent views of Dunstanburgh Castle. The dramatic ruins of the castle provide the picturesque backdrop to the wonderful Embleton Bay. Access to the beach is just a short walk from the village via a country lane. This sheltered bay is popular with bird watchers and is ideal for all water sports from surfing to kayaking. Families will love the beach as not only is it one of the quietest beaches on the Northumberland coast, it is a sheltered bay which has some great rock pools, perfect for kids to play and explore!  It is easy to understand why Embleton was recently voted the best beach in the UK by BBC Countryfile Magazine readers.

Embleton is an ideal base for anyone who is interested in exploring the Northumberland coastline on foot or by bike. With great coastal paths from Embleton bay, there are lots of opportunities for scenic walks, including a 7-mile circular walk that includes the beautiful coastal villages of Craster, Low Newton and Beadnell. Not only does this walk offer stunning scenery but there are some great refreshments stops along the way, with fantastic pub restaurants and cafés in each village that you pass through on the trail, allowing you time to relax, sample a local ale or try a tasty Craster Kipper while enjoying the stunning views.

A holiday cottage in Embleton provides an excellent base to explore the surrounding Northumberland coastal villages and towns, including Bamburgh, Seahouses and Holy Island. Enjoy days out in the medieval town of Alnwick and visit the popular Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden visitor attractions, where you will find lots of fun activities for all ages. Explore Barter Books, one of the largest second-hand bookshops in Britain, set in Alnwick’s former railway station, you are sure to pick up one or two good books. There is also a lovely café, where you can sit and enjoy your new book in front of a roaring fire and there is soon to be an ice-cream parlour, perfect for a cool treat in the warmer months!
